So I went to Monticello on sunday. Drove up in the M3, not a bad little drive up there either. After signing papers/security, I met up with my friend and his dad. And after the usual chit chat we headed out to the track. Monticello is a huge track with the largest straight away in NA, I believe. It's so large, that often times, like today it was split into two tracks. The south side where they held a jaguar event and the north side where we were. Now I can't talk much about the south side but the north is considered very techinical and features two small straights, a reverse recreation of Laguna Seca's quick switch back and two high speed turns from the ring, as well at a few tricks of their own. I first went out in my car, and we even managed to find a bmw racecar driver to sit shotgun for a few laps with me (it was pretty cool actually, 45 minutes off and on).
It's also worth mentioning how cool it would be to belong to a privately owned track. For more than half the time I was the only car on the track! At the begining of the day I shared it exclusively with a gt2 race car, then no one for a large portion of time, and then a ferrari 360.
Apologies for the camera pics, they are crappy, but it's all I had to document the day.
I was honestly surprised at how well my car held up and so was my buddy, I was the only street legal car I saw on the track! Keep in mind I came up on such short notice I was running OEM pads and the regular old fluid, which was completely boiled by the end of the day (Friction Z and super blue on the way). There's no better demonstration of a car being pulled from the street and thrown onto the track.
You can see the brake dust starting to build up. I had a great time, it's always such a learning experience, and I kicked a little ass too. Apparently I was closing in on a late 90s 360 and had consistently better lap times, but I was too busy driving and checking my gauges during the straights to really notice.
So anyway, eventually we grabbed lunch and after lunch I got to drive the beast. I cannot explain to you how fast this car is. It gets straight retarded. I mean it's fast. One seat, no interior, a roll cage that's a work of art, 560 horsepower on 110 octane base map, wide body, ohlin coilovers from japan, the list goes on and on. It's not just fast in a straight line, it's fast every where, but the raw acceleration is blistering because of the weight reduction
Before we ended the day we crossed over to the middle of the track were there is a massive warehouse/garage. If only there was a way I could have stolen all those cars

.... enjoy
